The safety camera mounted above the rearview mirror in many newer vehicles provides data for a suite of innovative technologies designed to enhance vehicle safety and the driving experience. When a windshield is replaced the safety camera gets temporarily removed, then put back after the new windshield is installed. Once replaced it is necessary to perform what is called a recalibration to ensure that the camera system is functiong properly and reading the lane lines accurately. A shift in the position of the camera once reinstalled can interfere with the system working corretcly.
